Challenge

The Beyond Group needed an A/B testing tool to quickly deliver insights and value to their clients

The Beyond Group built its business on deep analysis and tailored recommendations. So when Google Optimize announced it was being shut down, Justin Lalezarian, The Beyond Group’s founder, knew he needed to find a replacement A/B testing tool — and fast.

“There’s an appetite for testing across all of our clients,” he says. “And you can’t continue that work without having great testing tools.”

To ease the transition, Justin searched for an A/B testing tool with similar features to Google Optimize. “There are so many options out there. Some are incredibly complex in ways that we don't really need,” he says. “For us, simplicity was really important.”

The more he researched, the more Justin realized he needed a solution designed specifically for Shopify, the main e-commerce platform for most of The Beyond Group’s clients. Finding a tool that syncs directly with Shopify would give The Beyond Group more access to client data and better insights into how they can improve.

The Beyond Group had previously used Intelligems for profit optimization. When Justin learned that Intelligems added A/B testing to its features, he realized the choice was a no-brainer.

“When we found out that Google Optimize was ending, we knew we needed to find the next solution to continue A/B testing. Luckily, we'd been watching Intelligems for a long time and had interacted with it for price testing. So we knew that there were smart people behind the scenes at Intelligems.”


Solution

Intelligems helps The Beyond Group optimize their client’s checkout flow

With Intelligems, The Beyond Group can easily A/B test their clients' pricing and content, running the same tests they conducted with Google Optimize but now with data directly from Shopify.

As one of their first optimizations, Justin’s team used Intelligems to help MUD\WTR, a brand known for its certified-organic mushroom coffee-alternative blends, maximize the outcomes of its checkout flow.

For years, MUD\WTR’s main PDP funneled customers directly to checkout. This quick checkout process streamlined the path to conversion – but it also limited customers’ ability to browse and add more products. “The current flow was effective, but customers needed more flexibility to discover new items,” says Justin. “Giving shoppers more freedom could also drive higher AOV and revenue per session.”

To validate this hypothesis, The Beyond Group created a side cart on Intelligems, enabling customers to shop for more items before checking out from MUD\WTR’s main PDP. Then they tested the side cart against an existing one on MUD\WTR’s product catalog page to confirm its potential to encourage on-site shopping. The new side cart won with an 8% increase in subscription take rates.

Confident in these results, The Beyond Group set up a split test between MUD\WTR’s main one-click PDP checkout flow and the new side cart. Within days, they saw a dramatic rise in MUD\WTR's revenue per session, as well as a notable jump in conversion rates and AOV. 

The best part? Since MUD\WTR is a Shopify store, Intelligems automatically imports all of its performance data, providing its team and The Beyond Group with key success metrics directly on the platform’s dashboard.

“Our partnership is built on direct communication. For us, it was really important when embarking on this journey with Intelligems that we had direct access to them and could have conversations. There are moments when our Slack channel with Intelligems is just constantly going — we're asking questions, hearing about new features, and double-checking how we implement them.”

Results

The Beyond Group increased MUD\WTR’s conversion rates by 5% while driving an 8% AOV lift thanks to Intelligems

By entrusting Intelligems to handle all A/B testing and performance metrics analysis, The Beyond Group can continue driving growth for their clients.
