Shopify Fall '26 Editions: What the Updates Mean for Your Profit
The profit lens on Shopify's Fall '26 Editions: what Shopify shipped, where it fits, and where Intelligems goes further.

Shane Roach

Shopify dropped its Fall '26 Editions today. The theme is "Exponential," and the headline stories are Sidekick doing more of the work, A/B testing that now covers discounts and catalogs, and shopping inside more AI agents.
This post is the profit lens on the Editions. What Shopify shipped, where it fits, and why brands serious about profit per visitor keep building on Intelligems.
Rollouts Now Covers Discounts and Catalogs
Rollouts keeps growing. One rollout can now bundle a theme change, a checkout configuration, catalog changes, and a discount change, launched as a permanent change, a timed event, or a 50/50 experiment (Shopify Help Center).
Rollouts are only available on Shopify’s Grow plan and higher
For a brand that wants to schedule a theme swap or run a simple split between two storefront versions, that's a handy built-in option.
It's also a narrower one. Rollouts experiments report on native funnel signals like add-to-cart rate, reached-checkout rate, and checkout conversion (Shopify Help Center). Those tell you whether shoppers moved through the funnel. They don't tell you whether you made more money. A discount can lift add-to-cart and still lower what you keep per visitor.
Serious operators need the full picture, and that's what Intelligems is built for. Every test is measured on profit per visitor. You can test your entire funnel from the time a visitor lands all the way through post-purchase including prices, shipping rates and thresholds, offers, content, checkout, and post-purchase upsells. You can run several tests at once on configurable splits, and target or slice results by source, device, custom event, or Klaviyo segment.
If you're comparing the two, our Shopify Rollouts vs. Intelligems breakdown goes feature by feature.
Sidekick Now Pre-Screens Its Own Ideas (SimGym)
When Sidekick suggests a theme change, it can now run that change past SimGym's simulated shoppers before showing it to you. If the copy beats your live theme on add-to-cart rate, it's marked "Tested by Sidekick" (Shopify Help Center).
Tested by Sidekick is currently in early access and focused on desktop.
That can be a useful signal for what might be worth testing with Intelligems - it’s not the actual answer. Simulated shoppers don't have real budgets, real hesitation, or real reasons to leave, so a "Tested by Sidekick" label is a starting point, not a decision.
Use it as an indicator, then take the idea to real shoppers with an Intelligems content test and read it on profit per visitor. Only a live test on real traffic can tell you what actually earns more, and that's what Intelligems is built for.
Let simulated shoppers point you somewhere. Let real shoppers decide.
Shopify Smart Pricing Moves Into Sidekick
You can now ask Sidekick a pricing question and get product-level suggestions powered by Shopify Smart Pricing models. Shopify Smart Pricing also adds market-based guidance for new products and lets brands set a minimum margin and maximum discount.
Only select US brands can A/B test prices in the app.
That's a nice entry point if you've never touched your prices. But a price tip is a hypothesis. The answer comes from how YOUR customers respond at YOUR margins, alongside your shipping threshold, your offer, and your checkout.
Intelligems price testing is where brands go to prove it out:
Profit per visitor as the headline metric. Conversion and revenue are inputs. Profit is the outcome.
Multiple variants per test. A control plus two or three price points in one experiment.
Multiple concurrent tests. Price one collection while shipping-testing another.
Global, multi-currency, subscription-aware. Not just US one-time purchases.
Audience targeting. See how price sensitivity shifts by source, device, or Klaviyo segment.
Try this: start from wherever you already work. If you live in Sidekick, ask it for its top pricing suggestions. If you're already in Intelligems, ask Atlas. It has the context of all your store data including your past tests, plus learnings from 100,000+ tests run by Intelligems brands. Then test the idea with the biggest margin upside. Sidekick Can Now See Into Your Apps
With app extensions, supported apps can share context and prepare actions inside Sidekick, and surface recommendations on your admin Home page (Shopify blog). Shopify says daily Sidekick sessions grew 4.2x year over year, so the admin is quickly becoming a place where brands ask questions and act on the answers.
For a testing program, the best questions are the ones your own test history can answer: which offers won, which prices held, which audiences responded. That's the idea behind the Intelligems MCP server. It connects your test results to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Slack, so you or your agency can set up experiences and results from wherever you work.
Checkout Gets Another Polish
Rolling out soon: tiled payment methods, a tighter stacked form, custom fields for gift messages and delivery notes, an animated thank you page moment, and Apple Pay via QR code in more browsers. Sidekick can also help build checkout editor and Checkout Blocks customizations.
One thing to watch: when checkout itself changes, your baseline can shift. If these updates land during BFCM, a lift or dip might come from Shopify's change, not your promo. A test with a live control group separates the two, because both groups see the same new checkout.
On top of that structure sits the revenue layer. Intelligems checkout experiences add dynamic upsells, post-purchase offers, trust badges, urgency messaging, and one-click add, all tested on profit per visitor.
Shopping Moves Into More AI Agents
Shoppers can now buy inside Google's AI Mode and the Gemini app with checkout powered by Shopify, and Shop Pay works inside Claude Duet, Grok Bot, Instinct, and Meta's Muse. Brands can also manage their stores from Gemini, Copilot, Muse, Grok, and a ChatGPT sidebar. It's a validating moment for the whole ecosystem.
It also raises a useful question: who's landing on your store now? As more discovery happens in chat, visitors may arrive with different intent, and that can change which prices, thresholds, and offers win.
Two things can help. Segment test results by traffic source with Intelligems audience targeting to see whether AI-referred visitors behave differently. And bring testing into the AI tools you already use with the Intelligems MCP server.
Your Analytics Got Cleaner
Shopify sessions now use smart bot filtering and consent-aware counting, reports support your own annotations, and apps can send events into analytics. Cleaner data is good news.
It's also a reason to check your baselines. If session counts shift after the update, store-wide conversion rate might move even though shoppers didn't, so annotate the date the change reached your store. Inside a test it matters less, since control and variant are measured the same way at the same time. Intelligems analytics shows profit per visitor, conversion, AOV, and revenue per visitor side by side, by audience.

Stop Guessing. Start Knowing.
The Fall '26 Editions is good news for Shopify brands. Sidekick is smarter, checkout is tighter, and products can reach shoppers in more places.
Built-in tools can cover the basics. Profit comes from the combination of price, shipping, offers, content, checkout, and audience, measured together on profit per visitor. A few ways to put this release to work before BFCM:
Use Sidekick and Atlas for ideas. Let them point you toward what's worth testing.
Use real tests for the answer. Test the offer, threshold, and price that matter most on real shoppers using Intelligems.
Use Personalizations for the launch. Serve tailored BFCM offers and content by source, device, or Klaviyo segment with Intelligems Personalizations.
Watch your baselines. Annotate when Shopify updates reach your store, and lean on control groups to separate their changes from yours.
Don't guess which BFCM offer earns the most per visitor. Know.
If you want to see what that looks like in practice, the Intelligems app is on the Shopify App Store, and there's a where to start guide if you'd rather read first.
